Qual è la differenza tra ASSENT o ASCENT?
Queste due parole hanno la medesima pronuncia, ma spelling diversi.
Assent è inteso sia come verbo che come sostantivo e significa acconsentire o consenso. Un sinonimo potrebbe essere Agree.
It means: “to agree to or give official approval to something” or “agreement to an idea, plan, or request”.
Ascent, invece, ha uno spelling diverso. Nel senso di salita o ascesa è un sostantivo ed è un sinonimo di “Rise”.
It means: “the act of climbing or moving upwards” or “a path or road that goes up something”.
Ti propongo due esempi:
“Your silence signifies assent.”
“Il tuo silenzio significa consenso.”
“The plane’s ascent has been unusually steep.”
“L’ascesa del volo è stata, in maniera inusuale, ripida.”
