Qual è la differenza tra IMITATE e INTIMATE?
Queste due parole hanno una pronuncia simile, ma spelling diversi.
IMITATE vuol dire “imitare” ed è un sinonimo di MIMIC.
INTIMATE, invece, significa “sottointendere” ed è un sinonimo di HINT.
Ti propongo alcuni esempi:
“The kid imitated the dog by barking.”
” Il bambino ha imitato il cane abbaiando.”
“The pirate intimated that he knew where the treasure was buried.”
“Il pirata ha fatto sottintendere di sapere dove il tesoro sia sepolto.”
