Qual è la differenza tra BERTH e BIRTH?
Queste due parole hanno la medesima pronuncia, ma spelling diversi.
Berth vuol dire cuccetta o ormeggio ed è un sinonimo di bunk.
It means: “a bed in a boat, train, or a place for a ship or boat to stay in a port”.
Birth, invece, significa nascita, ed è quindi un sinonimo di creation.
It means: “the time when a baby or young animal comes out of its mother’s body”.
Ti propongo due esempi:
” Jay lost his berth because he didn’t pay the rent.”
“Jay ha perso l’ormeggio perché non aveva pagato l’affitto.”
“The birth of his son has been memorable.”
“La nascita di suo figlio è stata memorabile.”
